Docosahexic Acid aka DHA (the omega 3 fatty acid)

by Neurofreak on June 6, 2006

My good friend Bryan recently wrote an excellent article on DHA that can be found at his blog Eudaimonia.
Some cool highlights include:

“Infact, 50% of the grey matter in the brain is made up of DHA and arachidonic acid.”
“Mice learn better when they take both EPA and DHA.”
“Where DHA fails and EPA helps is the treatment of schizophrenia. There is actually very little EPA in the brain, but having low levels can lead to disorders like this.”

Okay, I’m not going to spoil you guys. Go check it out. A lot of information out there sings the glory of EPA omega 3, but doesn’t have to say a whole lot about DHA. It’s pretty obvious, especially after reading Bryan’s post, that DHA is an integral piece of the puzzle!
